Dundalk swimmers make waves

Dundalk Swimming Club faced a tough test last as its swimmers took on the best in Ireland and overseas at the prestigious Dave McCullagh International Open in Bangor.

Representing Dundalk, Evelyn Donnelly competed in 50m events across all four strokes, in the 14 And Over Age Group, putting in strong performances that see her continue her solid preparation for the Irish Open Swimming Championship in Dublin at the end of March. Rebekah Friel achieved Personal Bests in both the 200m Breaststroke and 200m Freestyle (12-13 Age Group) in what continues to be an impressive second season with the Club. Finally Eliza Logan, under the watchful eye of Coach Colette Donnelly, put in a fine display to qualify for the final of the 200m Backstroke (12-13 Age Group) as first reserve and score a Division One qualification time in the process.
The Club has high hopes to build on the number of Dundalk swimmers competing at the Division 1 and Divisional 2 National Finals this year but they are also on the look out for the next generation of young Dundalk swimmers to join its various squads catering for all levels and abilities.
The Club are particularly interested in hearing from parents of swimmers in the 7-12 age group who can comfortably swim 25 meters (one length of Dundalk’s pool) Front, Back and Breast stroke and those aged over 12 who may have some club swimming experience.
