Huge crowds for Paddy Cheshire 5k

Sean O’Mahonys held the inaugural Paddy Cheshire Memorial 5K on Saturday last and it proved to be a hugely successful event.
The race, which was preceded by the Juvenile Sponsored Walk down the Navvy Bank at 4.30, attracted almost 300 runners and the whole day was run off very smoothly indeed with lovely weather and an almost flat course to contribute to fast times and add to the enjoyment of all.
The club would like to sincerely thank all the committee who put in Trojan work in organising the whole event and all the volunteers on the day, without which these events are not possible plus all the runners, walkers, running club members who turned out in large numbers.
For all the kids who took part in the walk and returned a sponsorship card, there was a medal, a Sean O’Mahonys drinks bottle and some goodies plus face painting and refreshments back at the clubhouse.
It is a busy time for the Sean O’Mahonys as they will be holding the annual Golf Classic at Greenore Golf Club on Friday on Friday July 26. The proceeds from this year’s golf classic will help to fund the completion of the new facilities on the Point Road. The entry fee per team is €160, which includes green fees, refreshments, and the opportunity to win some excellent prizes. If you are not in a position to enter a team you, your business or your employer, may wish to sponsor a tee or green. Please contact Martin O’Brien on 086-1554118 at your earliest convenience to confirm a tee time.
