Culture Night at An Tain Arts Centre

Explore all that An Táin Arts Centre has to offer at this late evening event for all the family on Friday September 20. All events are free to attend. 6.00pm – 7.00pm | Family Hangout: Children’s face painting, with Linda McConville Free face painting for all the family! (Adults face painting very much encouraged) 7.00pm – 7.45pm | For ages 4 – 7 8.00pm – 8.45pm | For ages 8 – 12 Woodland fairy workshop with artist in residence, Rozzi Kennedy Join artist Rozzi Kennedy’s workshop – have fun making unique woodland fairies complete with wings and wellies – be creative with leaves, handmade stickers, card, washi tape and feathers.
Your finished colourful artwork will be personalised with your name, using letter stamps, and ready to hang up with ribbon. 6.00pm – 10.00pm | Snapshots exhibition ‘Snapshots’ – An installation/ projection in the Basement Gallery.
This curated screening brings together a selection of seven works by visual artists and filmmakers born or living in Ireland. It aims to showcase the rich variety of the genre and highlight the use of various artistic techniques and methods and their transferability onto a cinematic screen.
7.00pm, 8.00pm & 9.00pm | Family Hangout: Backstage tours, with Paul Hayes An Táin Arts Centre’s Director. Paul will be giving tours of the theatre, where audiences will have the opportunity to learn about the heritage of the building and get a glimpse behind the scenes of a working arts space.
7.00pm – 8.00pm | Big Sing community event with Music Generation. Are you interested in singing? Then come along and join us in the auditorium for this Big Singing community event with Music Generation
7.30pm – 8.30pm | Mike Nielsen playing jazz guitar in the foyer guitarist, composer, educator and author.
Mike is noted for his innovative performances and research. He has shared the stage with many international stars including Dave Liebman, Larry Coryell, Joe Lovano, Kenny Werner, Kenny Wheeler, Dominique Di Piazza and Paul Wertico. As a soloist he has toured extensively and opened for John McLaughlin on his first visit to Dublin.
8.00pm – 10.00pm | Open studio and reception, with artist in residence Rozzi Kennedy. During the residency, Rozzi’s plan is to collaborate with people living with dementia and potentially their loved ones to produce art in a safe, social and comfortable environment where participants can express themselves openly. She hopes the process will evoke some great memories and emotions.
