Aidan all set to lose his locks for charity

Annaghminnon man Aidan Kerr will bid farewell to his mane of hair this weekend as he prepares to get it all shaved off for a very worthy cause. Aiden has already raised more than €4000 already ahead of the big fundraising evening in Smyths Bar in Tallanstown and is hoping to raise even more on Saturday evening during the ‘Head shave for Baldy Boots’ event with all money raised going to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit in Lourdes Hospital.

According to Aidan he was moved to raise money for the unit having experienced at first hand the brilliant work they do.
“My son Killian was born with problems in his lungs and the people in the NICU in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital saved his life. He had fluid on his lungs and they had to put him on a machine to help with his breathing but thankfully after a couple of weeks in the hospital he pulled through and both myself and my wife Lynn have been so thankful ever since for the great work they do. We had a fundraiser shortly after Killian’s first birthday for the NICU but we have decided to do another one now after the boys convinced me to get my hair shaved after it got a bit of length during lockdown,” explains Aidan.

“Since we announced the fundraiser and put up the link for donations we have been inundated with support and I would like to thank everybody who has supported our fundraiser. We have received support from all over the place and we are very grateful. It’s probably not a great time of the year to be shaving my hair off given the cold weather is coming in but sure it’s all for a good cause,” laughs Aidan.

“We will be starting the event in Smyths Bar in Tallanstown at 8:30 sharp as we have to be out of the pub by 11:30 due to the current Covid regulations. I will be getting my head shaved and there will also be a couple of other lads getting their legs and back waxed. There will be sponsorship cards and buckets going around on the night as well as live music and food and anybody who wants to come along is more than welcome. I know from first hand experience how much brilliant work they do in the NICU in Drogheda and it’s great to be able to give something back,” stated Aidan.
