A young Dundalk man who was touched by the scenes of devastation of Typhoon Haiyan has used his talents to help raise money for the victims.
Kaya Kalyon joined with two friends to play classical music in The Marshes shopping centre on Saturday November 23 and in two hours raised an impressive €475.
Oisin Drumm and Ciara Thornton played alongside Kaya and were thrilled with the response.
“It was initially my mother Mary’s idea as we felt we had a duty to help the people suffering in the Philippines. I got in touch with Oisin and Ciara, and they were delighted to help out”, explained the Grammar School student.
“Overall we were very happy with the way it went and it was great to be able to give the money to the Red Cross”, added Kaya.
A representative of the Filipino community in Dundalk, Jane Aga-In, extended her sincere thanks to the students for their efforts.
