Annaghminnon man Aidan Kerr is feeling a little bit colder up top after he had all his hair shaved off for charity last Saturday evening. Aidan raised more than €10000 during his ‘Head shave for Baldy Boots’ evening in Smyths Bar in Tallanstown with all money raised going to the Newborn Intensive Care Unit in Lourdes Hospital.
According to Aidan he was moved to raise money for the unit having experienced at first hand the brilliant work they do.
“My son Killian was born with problems in his lungs and the people in the NICU in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital saved his life. He had fluid on his lungs and they had to put him on a machine to help with his breathing but thankfully after a couple of weeks in the hospital he pulled through and both myself and my wife Lynn have been so thankful ever since for the great work they do. We had a fundraiser shortly after Killian’s first birthday for the NICU but we decided to do another one after the boys convinced me to get my hair shaved after it got a bit of length during lockdown,” explains Aidan.
“We had a great turnout on Saturday evening and I have to thank Smyths bar in Tallanstown for accommodating us. It was a great evening which everybody enjoyed and most importantly we managed to raise a good few euro for the NICU. The people who work up there are fantastic and we are delighted to help them.
“The support I got from everybody was amazing and I would like to thank everybody who donated or helped spread the word. I also want to give a big thank you to Diane from Luminess Skin and Laser Clinic in Dundalk who did all the leg waxing on the night and also to Warren from Chop Shop Barbers and Academy in Ardee who did the head shave.
